Water Storage and Treatment Giveaway

It's time for another great Emergency Essentials giveaway! This week, we are giving away a 55-gallon water storage barrel and a package of Aquamira™ Chlorine Dioxide Water Treatment worth over $90.00!

Our 55-gallon water barrel is one of the easiest, most efficient ways to maintain your stationary water storage supply. Made with all food grade materials, it can hold up to 55 gallons of water - enough to sustain 4 people for up to 14 days. The dark blue color restricts light and helps prevent algae growth.

Aquamira™ Chlorine Dioxide Water Treatment will protect your existing water storage against bacterial growth and can be used to treat water as new containers are filled. It may also be used with existing stored water to refresh water quality and enhance taste. On sale this month for only $13.99.

If you purchase a 55-gallon barrel and/or the Aquamira™ water treatment during the giveaway and win, we will issue you a refund or send you the product - whichever you prefer.

Freeze-Dried Green Peas Tip

"I wasn't too sure about these freeze-dried green peas, and I am definitely not a pea fan to begin with. I refuse to eat canned peas at all. However, I love to use frozen peas in casseroles and stews, and since we downsized to living in a travel trailer, freezer space is non-existent, making that impossible. This was a potential solution and it met the challenge and passed the mark.

All I do is add hot water and let them stand for about 15 minutes, then heat them in the microwave if I'm serving them as a side dish. I love them! This is definitely a keep-on-hand item."

Wavelength™ Emergency Radio, Charger and Flashlight

This month our very popular Wavelength™ Emergency Radio, Charger and Flashlight is on sale for only 12.99! During an emergency or even just a brief power outage, this item provides a way to access information with the AM/FM radio, keep lines of communication open by allowing you to recharge your cell phone, and it will never leave you in the dark.

Wavelength™ Emergency Radio, Charger & Flashlight

A hand crank charges the built-in Nickel Metal Hydride battery. The battery will run the radio for up to 12 minutes from just 1 minute of cranking.

One of the unique features of the Wavelength™ is its ability to charge a cell phone with its universal charging cable. Unlike other cell phone chargers, the Wavelength™ comes with a cable that looks just like your car's power outlet. This allows you to plug in phones, PDA's, and other electronics that have car-charging cables. Simply connect the included cable into the Wavelength™, plug in your car charging cable, plug in the electronic device and begin cranking. It's that easy! The unit sends the electricity to your device as long as you crank at the rate of two turns per second. The Wavelength™ isn't any faster at charging your electronics than your car, so if you have a very low battery, you'll have to crank for a while to get a full charge. But in an emergency you should get about 3 minutes of talk-time for every minute of cranking.

Phone & phone's car adapter not included

There is also a 3 LED flashlight that toggles between two brightness settings. The flashlight will stay on for up to 30 minutes on the low setting (only using 1 LED bulb) for every minute of cranking.

We highly recommend that you include the Wavelength™ Emergency Radio, Charger and Flashlight in your emergency supplies.

Nutrition and the Food Storage Analyzer™

Do you have a preparedness or food storage experience, tip, recipe, product review, etc.? Become a guest blogger on Preparedness Pantry and earn a $20 Emergency Essentials gift card! Click here for details.

"After several months of collecting items for my food storage, I felt pretty confident that I had enough food for a year's supply for my family. Since I order regularly from Emergency Essentials, I came across their Food Storage Analyzer™ and decided to give it a try. I had used various other programs available while I collected my food storage, but I liked that Emergency Essentials' Food Storage Analyzer would break it down into not only calories, but also essential vitamins.

This was something that I had wondered about as I stocked up on my grains, legumes and other food storage essentials since we were used to eating a much broader diet filled with many fruits and vegetables. After inputting my food storage, I was happy to see that we had over 400 days worth of calories, but shocked to find that we were more than 70% deficient in Vitamin A. We were also 40% deficient in Vitamin C and 25% deficient in Calcium.
Carrot Dices - High in Vitamin A

After discovering this, I thought, "How do I fix it?" Then, right there to the right of the results, were buttons which led me to a list of items that were high in each of those nutrients. It took me just a few minutes to find several options in each nutrient category for my family to try. I learned that it is important to know what is in your food storage, besides calories, to try and be the best prepared for your family. I also know what to watch for during sales in the coming months since I know exactly what items would give us the most benefit in our food storage plan."

Emergency Preparedness Guide -- Taste Test

Don’t forget to store the cooking essentials you’ll need to help your food storage recipes pass the taste test!

Many of us create our daily recipes without considering all the little products that make the recipe look and taste its best. We don’t think about these items until we unexpectedly run out of them. I bet each of us can remember a time when we realized mid-recipe that we were out of baking powder, butter, or sugar. What starts as a simple recipe can end in a cooking catastrophe!
